Quantum Devices

This group, headed by one of the founders of Circuit Quantum Electrodynamics (QED), studies the quantum properties of novel micro- and nanostructures devices and their interaction with classical and quantum electromagnetic fields. Positioned at the intersections of mesoscopic condensed matter physics, atomic physics and quantum optics, novel superconducting quantum electronic circuits with applications in quantum information processing and quantum cryptography are explored. The group also develops novel quantum-enhanced measurement and detection technology based on nano-electronic devices and detectors in the microwave frequency domain. The group employs circuit QED-based techniques to realize hybrid quantum systems in which the quantum properties of semiconductor quantum dots and Rydberg atoms are controlled and detected.
